THE BAR-KAYS SEXOMATIC

The Bar-Kays were a popular Memphis, Tennessee, soul, R&B, and funk group performing from 1966 that continues in some form to perform today, although with only one original member. They continued to score hits on R&B charts well into the 1980s and lately have incorporated contemporary rap & remix elements into their continuing career and have performed all over the world. This track I dont mind telling you is one of my top 5 80s club tracks, the other's I'll have to point out at a later date....Classic

TIMEX SOCIAL CLUB RUMORS

The Timex Social Club was a US group formed in 1982. Its members Gregory Thomas, Marcus Thompson, Kevin Moore, Michael Marshall, Craig Samuel, Darrien Cleage, and Alex Hill specialized in both old school rap and the merger of urban R&B with hip-hop rhythms, which was later known as new jack swing. The group was signed to Danya records, and their only album Vicious Rumors was released in 1986. Vicious Rumors had only one major hit on it, "Rumors", which hit #8 on the Hot 100, with Michael Marshall as the lead singer. The two following singles "Thinkin' About Ya" and "Mixed-Up World" both reached the R&B top 20. Soon afterwards, their producer Jay King replaced them with a new band that he formed, an R&B group called Club Nouveau. After 5 years of being together, the Timex Social Club broke up.

THE B.B.& Q BAND DREAMER

B. B. & Q. Band (which stands for the Brooklyn, Bronx, and Queens Band), was an American disco/funk group, who were created in 1981 and disbanded in 1986. By 1985 Petrus had fixed a contract with Elektra Records and B. B. & Q. Band was back on track with their last album Genie, including minor hits like the title track "Genie" and "Dreamer". Kae Williams, a former Breakwater member hired by Petrus, wrote all tracks and co-produced the LP in conjunction with Petrus. The album also showed early examples of Curtis Hairston's fine voice when Petrus invited him to be the new lead singer. The album sold rather well, especially in Europe, but in 1986 the B. B. & Q. Band disappeared forever when Petrus was murdered.

LOOSE ENDS HANGIN' ON A STRING

Loose Ends provided some of the best European/British R&B around for the 80's. Their brilliant artistry and sophisticated knack combined pop jazz with richly textured and syntehsized R & B grooves for an overall atmospheric experience. While one could still hear the Western R&B influence Loose Ends had they still possessed their own remarkable and unique flavor. I have yet to hear of another group in the new millennium that comes remotely close to these guys.

THE SOS BAND NO ONE'S GONNA LOVE YOU

The SOS Band is an American musical ensemble, founded in Atlanta, Georgia in 1977. The “SOS” acronym stands not for “Save Our Souls”, but for “Sounds of Success”.The band, fronted by Mary Davis, was initially famous for the post-disco hit “Take Your Time (Do It Right)” in 1979. In 1982, they joined forces with then-new production team Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, who went on to craft a string of R&B hits for the group, including “Just Be Good to Me”, “Tell Me If You Still Care”, “Feeling”, and “Borrowed Love”.The Jam/Lewis produced SOS Band hits are notable for popularizing the use of the Roland TR-808 drum machine (and its distinctive cowbell sound) in popular music. The group continues to tour and perform to this day.
